What happened to political leadership?

Being Human, Geopolitics, Politics

I have no idea what happened to political leadership, and in many ways I don’t much care. What is where are the politicians with vision?

It used to be that the greatest minds went into politics with the sole intention of helping the citizens they cared for navigate the future successfully.  Now it would appear they deliberately hinder the inevitable because they don’t think their co-citizens are capable of understanding that the world is not black and white.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been listening to all of Abraham Lincoln’s speeches and letters. There was a man with a vision, and the patience to execute. He was WAAAAY ahead of business and society in wanting slavery banned, so he slowly and doggedly won people around – because he was a bold and visionary leader who knew that the facts (all men are created equal) were on his side.

And now politicians aren’t decades ahead, they’re decades behind. Want proof?

This graph doesn’t explain, but it does describe.

Conclusion? Er… Riots? Civil disobedience? Vote DOWDING to be dragged kicking and screaming into utopia? Just be aware, that’s all. Politics moves slowly. Too slowly for purpose. Move on and don’t wait for permission. (Apart from you, Monsanto /syngenta / Tescos / Halliburton etc)
