Superior orders

Crime & Security

Since we keep being asked to do immoral things by our businesses and our Governments* it’s worth remembering Rule IV of the Nuremberg principles:

“The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him”.

i.e. “It is not an acceptable excuse to say ‘I was just following my superior’s orders'”

* a special ‘heads up’ call to the Turkish Police, too.
