The best way to survive the 21st century is together. The way we do things today does not need to be, nor can it be, the way we do things tomorrow.

Money is getting in the way of progress

It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.

Housing on mars

Let’s say you’re in charge of designing the cities for the later colonies on Mars. Terraforming is all taken care of, and resources are, whilst limited, easily found and used, just.. you know.. it’s Mars.. we shouldn’t go squandering stuff. You have plenty of machines to do the work, but they do have a running cost so you should be a little bit mindful of that, perhaps.

So put simply, you have a pretty free rein to do what you like.

Here’s the question: do you build housing for the poor?

Dammit. This is not a dialogue. Well.. of course you’re supposed to say “no, because why are there poor people on Mars?” To which the reply would come “why are there poor people on Earth?”

You would then be shocked by a Koanistic wave of enlightenment, and devote considerable thought to overthrowing anachronistic economic models.
